conveniently located within the hotel we were staying (the thompson), nico is the newest addition to chef paul kahan's one off hospitality group. the restaurant serves rustic italian with a focus on seafood, and was a no brainer for one of our three lunches in the city. the meal was a big success, with everything from the crudo to the pasta to pastry chef amanda rockman's desserts being excellent. favorite dishes were the bass, the tagliolini, and the baba rum plated with date "leather". service was friendly and the space was nice, but i would recommend asking for a table rather than a booth as i found the booth we were seated at very awkward and uncomfortable.
